Automation rules let you choose which alerts trigger a notification and where those notifications are sent. First, configure a destination. Then, create a rule that connects your alert conditions to that destination.
This guide uses Slack as an example. The connection details will vary depending on the destination you choose.
1. Add a destination
- Navigate to Automation > Destinations.
- Select +Add Destination.
- Choose the destination type. In this example, select Slack.
- Enter the requested connection details.
- Test delivery to verify the connection.
- If delivery is successful, save the destination.
Example: Slack destination settings.
2. Define which alerts trigger the rule
- Navigate to Automation > Automation Rules.
- Select +New Rule.
- Under IF, select the conditions that an alert must match to trigger the rule.
Use the IF conditions to choose which alerts trigger a notification.
For example, you can configure a rule to send notifications for alerts with a severity level of 7 or higher from a specific agent.
Example: filtering alerts by severity level and agent.
3. Select the destination and test the rule
- Under THEN, select the destination you saved earlier. In this example, choose your Slack destination.
- Test the rule to verify that it behaves as expected and that the notification reaches the selected destination.
- Save the rule once testing is successful.
